A quick solution for obesity

Bob Choi: ... is to go broke,
i.e. to become poor. It's difficult to get fat if you can't afford to buy food
on the table! So would you rather be skinny and poor or fat and rich? Judging
from the worsing trend of obesity, I do believe
people are opting for the latter. We all want to become rich even if it kills
us!
As for me, I want
to be fat (meaning:rich) but
manage to stay skinny (meaning: poor) no matter how hard I tried to become fat.
Poor me!
Dr.
Hon: Well,
this concept is no longer true in the west. In the UK and the US, obesity is in
fact linked with low income and social deprivation. Families become fat and
unhealthy because they can no longer afford fresh vegetables and fruits. In the
UK, people who are on unemployment benefits, living from week to week, relying
on convenience food and eating out of the chippy are
found to be more at risk of being obese. The professionals and those in receipt
of higher income are actually less at risk of being overweight.
Bob
Choi: In
the west, (just about) EVERYBODY is fat, from people living on food stamps to
rich celebrities. Strictly speaking, there are really no poor people in the
west. There are rich people and people living on welfare and that's it! They
all can afford to buy food (whether healthful or not) in more than sufficient
quantities. It's only natural that they all get fat.
Rich folks like Li
Kar Shing or Li Siu Kay are skinny because they still think like a poor
person who economizes instead of indulges on food and clothes and...
Stella Tse: It's
true that a recent survey indicates that lower income people tend to more
health issues, I guess including obersity. But I
don't think we can reason that they cannot purchase health food. It's just that
these people probably do not pay as much attention to health and related
issues.
Dr.
Hon: It
might not be the case in Canada since you aren't facing the same kind of
economic downturn and serious recession as happening in the UK and the EU. The
latest figures from our Department of environment and Rural Affairs reported
among the lowest income households there is a significant decline of purchase
of fresh fruits and vegetables since 2006. It really isn't the case that the
mothers don't know what's best for the families.
Tim Fook: It is said that
Canada is capitalism country and in fact , it is a
socialism country. The country has a generous welfare and it is why we have to
pay a heavy tax. However, every country is looking to review its welfare scheme
as they are thinking if they can afford.
My idea is that if
you indulge in food to get rid of your anxiety and or /desire, you surely get
fat. Peter has pointed that for coping with excess intake of food
, you should exercise. Obesity has no relation to poorness and richness.
According to TV interviews and programme on Li Ka Sing, he plays golf and swims every day and he is on
simple diet.
