protected you from the time you were a tiny embryo;

fed you, cleansed you, clothed you, cuddled you,

sang to you and rocked you when you were a baby?

cheered when you took your first step,

helped you up when you stumbled and fell and

provided for all that you needed?

soothed you when you were hurt,

nursed you when you were sick and

held you tight when you were scared?

stood by you when you were all alone,

forgave you when you went astray and

loved you when nobody seemed to care?

who after all these years when you turned 60,
