American
Chinese (or Chinese in America).. have
always been known for their (our?) academic excellence and business acumen...
and were looked upon as the "Jews" of Chinese origin. Then we had
Bruce Lee, Jacky Chan and Jet Li and Chow Yun Fat who
broke ground in Hollywood. Then we had Michael Chang and Yao Ming and now
Jeremy Lin who will forever change how Americans view American Chinese and
Chinese in general.
OK.
What's our next challenge? What else is left? THINK!
A big-time politician, perhaps. A senator, congressmen, governor... or maybe even presidental hopeful. Why not? They (we) certainly
get what it takes to succeed in politics. How realistic is that? How long will
it take? Don't know! Before Obama, few in America would think a black man could
actually move into the White House.
I
wager that a Chinese American will be nominated as a candidate for the US
Presidency during my life time... and that's certainly something worth waiting
for.
