Politics and
Religion

They have much in
common. Both promote belief and faith over fact and science. Both appeal to
people's emotional needs at the expense of rational thought. Sometimes the two
are so intertwined it's hard to keep them separate: the Vatican is a political
powerhouse; on the back of the US dollar bill, it says: In God We Trust (Why?);
it's wellnigh impossible for an atheist to run for
any public office in the US for one would need to take oath touching the bible
(so while we boast our religious freedom, we are not free to be non-religious.
How ironic!)
One more thing
they share in common: both were responsible for more human deaths than any
known diseases.
