National "Sex" Education for Hong Kong!!!!

Civic education has become the talk of town in Hong Kong. Supporters said it was high time we included civic education in our schools so our children would grow up to be proud patriots while dissidents feared that it was an attempt by the Central Government to brainwash our kids, to turn them into little "Red Guards" of the future. It is a sensitive, controversial topic the kind of which I would rather not get involved in.

So, instead, I would talk about something that perhaps we can all agree on and find a whole lot more interesting: Sex education for Hong Kong.

I believe that sex education is absolutely necessary, not just for school children, but for citizens of all ages. We must admit that many of us are still holding arcane notions on sex and that we can all benefit from further enlightenment regarding our attitude, perception and behavior on matters related to sex. The main obstacle in promoting sex education is the lack of qualified instructors in Hong Kong. It's hard to find individuals who are knowledgeable on sex matters and who are not biased in some way...

Now please substitute "civic" for "sex" in the previous paragraph.

Today, the government announced that schools that have received the incentive of HK$530K for national education may keep the money and use it on any form of moral or civic education they see fit. There will be no definitive guidelines from the government and there will be no deadlines. And please read this: "...the money can be applied to any topic including sex education..." Holy Smoke! Sex education for Hong Kong school kids...this is a (wet) dream come true!

I better find out if they need any course instructors for this particular subject. While we are at it, would any of you fellas fancy teaching sex education to teenagers in Hong Kong? Please raise your hands. This is a chance for you to show your patriotism in person!

I just became a self-certified sex eduactor this morning.

For the record, I now withdraw all my previous silly comments and senseless objections against national education, and are now in full support of national education particularly in the segment on SEX!!!
