Mr.Bob Choi ' article 〝The
Hong Kong CE Election Debate 〞induces
me to raise some questions .
I
watched the debate too. While I am
in agreement with Mr.Choi that the ‘process’ itself
is important but I must question the validity of the process.
What
process are we talking when it is a farce which denies 99% of the people a HK a
say in the selection of their commander-in-chief?
Why
the hell did they bother to have a televised debate?
Why
wasted everyone’s time?
Why
wasted our brain cells when they can be better used in making a killing in the
share, currency, gold and other markets?
Why
can’t they just hold a debate in an invite-only venue like the ballroom of the
Peninsula Hotel, for the benefit of the delegates of the functional
constituencies only?
OK,
people may say what is happening now is another step towards universal suffrage
when every man, woman and ‘running dog’ can select the chief executive. This
sounds good in theory.
Who
is to say that our comrades up north will not ‘nominate’ the candidates of
their choosing so no matter how we vote, the results are stacked against us?
Mr.Choi , what’s your
view on this ?
