The Asian education model is by no means perfect...

I am glad this is coming from a Chinese academic who has been to both camps – the East and the West.

The Asian education model undoubtedly turns out top scholars but many turn out to be educated idiots – good for nothing except passing exams.

Outside studies, they don’t have a life!

Many of my Caucasian friends commented that if their children were to be put through the same regiment, they will be just as good as the Asians too.

I totally agree. I have had many opportunities of interacting with young people from China and I find their way of thinking, their speech pattern, their way of doing things weird and convoluted. May be I am too much of a Kwai Lo and they, too much of a Chinese. Or may be a huge generation gap!
