Illicit
affairs/sexual indiscretions are the graveyard of male public figures

The latest to be
consigned to the coffin (and on the way to the graveyard) is Dominic
Strauss-Kahn. I find it rather interesting that about 60% of the
French thought that he was the victim of a smear campaign, or a conspiracy, or
entrapment. If it is an entrapment, I don’t mind walking into one,
when there was seemingly some free sex awaiting. For the sake
of a cheap thrill, he has thrown away everything he has worked for over
decades. But did he know it at the time? Clearly not. Now he has plenty of time to reflect on
‘what might have been’ in Sing Sing.
Also breaking news
was the sexual indiscretion of our movie hero the Terminator, who admitted
fathering a child with his housekeeper over 10 years ago. It’s again rather interesting this came out into the
open barely 10 days after their public divorce announcement. Is this too much of the coincident in timing, or is it
the real cause for the divorce that their publicists choose to omit? What else has he done which remain unreported?
Then it was Mr. Woods the Tiger. He was playing 18 holes
(may be more) both literally and metaphorically, and energetically. He has not been the same since his wife left him. He is unfocussed, lost, looks troubled, and lost a
sense of purpose. His slip in world rankings is not entirely unexpected.
Like all of us, he didn’t realize he was into such a
good thing – a stable relationship, family and spousal support, on the top of
his game, seemingly unassailable command of his game, and of course, easy
money. All these are now history. What he didn’t bank on is the fact that even at the
height of his game, other people are snapping at his heels.
Well, they have
well and truly knocked him off the pedestal. It will
take nothing short of a miracle to regain his world No.1 ranking. I think it’s an impossible dream. Why? To strike success, all the right ingredients have to
come together and come off at the right time. Once they
are gone, it’s extremely difficult to put them back together again. Good night, Mr.
Woods. Opportunity beckons only once.
I can go on and on
about other famous men whose careers came to a screeching halt because of
sexual indiscretions – John Edwards, Elliott Spitzer, Bill Clinton but I think
we have far more important things to talk about, like the travel reports of the
five ladies from a famous school called New Method College, who are causing a
real stir in south western USA.
PS I wonder why there are no sexual
scandals involving Chinese officials? Is it
because those who are in the know, or dare to report them are dispatched to the
‘western sky’?
