More Health Myths Debunked (2)

Peter Wu & Others

Peter Cheung:         If you listen to your body, not many of us can follow this 7 minute exercise. But you can have your own 7 minute routine. MM also have an interesting TV series in PBS.

I agree intermittent fasting may work to reduce weight. We can fast overnight before blood test. So we can stop eating after 8 pm more often. I fasted for 2 days to prep for colonoscopy and lost 5 lb. So you will lose water weight when you drink that nasty PEG solution. But the fasting is not that bad.

I also thought that smaller meals will have lower amount of insulin secreted. But there is study that people who had a big lunch and smaller bk and dinner will lose more weight.

Yes balanced meals are best. Prepare your own meals more often. Read the labels of the processed foods. I never looked at the label of dried soy tofu pei(skin). When I saw phosphate and sulfite I put it back and will never eat it again.

Metis Hon:              Peter Wu & Peter Cheung, I agree with both of you wholeheartedly.

The thing is we don't really need to eat a lot to stay alive. I seldom eat big lunches, the only exception is when I'm on holiday ( especially going on a cruise) with my hubby. I can survived on a small green salad with one or two Ryvita. Breakfast is usually just a small bowl of porridge and dinner is mostly Chinese stir fry with lots of vegetables, taken usually around 7pm. I do snack and I love dark chocolates; I believe at our age, we shouldn't deny ourselves the occasional comfort treats, but you do need to know when to stop.

Exercising alone won't help you to lose weight but it will keep you healthy and toned. I do three body conditioning and Zumba sessions plus two gym visits each week, these exercises also help me to combat stress. In the body conditioning class, we repeat the 7 minutes exercise 5 times, they are preceded by warm ups and followed by floor exercises for core toning. I do believe that you have to make it a habit of exercising regularly, there's no miracle program for quick weight loss and there's no point killing yourself for the perfect figure at our age. Be happy with your shape as long as you aren't overweight.

Metis, still in Hollywood and seeing hundreds of overweight people gorging on pizzas and burgers.
