Stella: Dear Charles,
Peter and Shirley, hope you guys held up okay last night through the storm. I
see that millions of people are without power, and I don't want to call you
guys even on the cell phone as you may have to conserve power.
If you are
without power, hope it will come back soon. I know Charles had his generator
all set up, so that should help.
We in Toronto
are spared the worst, wind was howling last night but did minimal damage, there
are isolated power outages. Unfortunately a woman was killed by falling debris
from a sign. It will be several more days before everything is cleaned up and
rain goes away.
Keep
warm and safe.
Virginia: Wow, what a storm!! one
of the worst in the history, especially happening in one of the busiest cities
in the world...
Our hearts go
out to all those who are affected.
As Stella said,
we do not want to call our east coast friends now to conserve the power. So
please keep safe and keep us informed if you all are doing ok.
We
are sending our thoughts and prayers your way.
Johnson: Just talk to Charles on his cell phone and
everything is fine with the Chan household. His power was out last night but
was restored around 10:00am this morning. He want me to let all of you know
that they are fine and not to worry. Now I wonder how Peter and Shirley are doing? SH is currently in South East Asia enjoying his
durian. He's one lucky guy for not have to weather the storm.
Virginia: Thanks, Johnson for sending us the news.
Good to know Charles and family are doing fine in NJ. Take good care everyone
and our thoughts are with all our friends at the east coast.
Peter
Cheung: I couldn’t wait but went to work early this
morning so that I can read my emails. Trees fell onto the lines and cut off my
electricity since 8pm on Monday. They just cut the trees at 2 am this morning.
Hope they will fix the lines soon. See the attached picture. My home is ok. No
flooding. I have cooked enough food for several days.
Philadelphia has
not been dealt with too much damage. I took the train and subway to work today.
New Jersey and Long Island shores suffered the most. Some streets of Ocean City
had 1 foot of sand. NYC subway system was flooded. When NYU Hospital lost their
1o, 2o and backup powers, they had to carry their patients down the stairways
and transferred them to other hospitals.
I am it is over.
May the recovery smooth and soon.
Virginia: Good to hear you are doing fine and goes
back to work.
You are lucky to
have the train and subway rides. i think it will take
a while before NYC can restore the subway services.
Take good care
and keep safe.
