Howdy(1)

Don’t worry about my wife. She is not dead yet. I haven’t murdered her or chopped her other leg off!

What’s luck anyway?

There is a saying that ‘the harder you work, the luckier you get’. What does it tell you?

What it is saying is that to a large extent, luck is your own creation. It’s very much within your control.

You study hard, you will pass exams with flying colours.

You work hard, you are more likely to get a promotion than others.

You pound the pavements for customers and chances are you will find them.

I personally don’t believe in luck. I believe in getting stuck in and have a go.

Have you seen a roast duck or a $1,000 note flying into your month or your pocket when you are out strolling?

If you have, then it is luck. Winning Lotto’s Jackpot appears to be luck – to me it is more probability.

Almost everything people say is luck is in fact hard-work disguised as luck.

Buddy, every cloud has a silver lining. There are good things coming out of misfortunes. Just as you think are you hard done by, think of others who subsist like vegetables. And there are many.

I am grateful I, at 77, can still live my days independently, think logically, put in a day or two of hard labour (with plenty of rests in between), engage in flirts with the opposite sex, and enjoy the company of loved ones. I am sure you can too. And probably better.

Make the most of your ‘present’ buddy. It is present because it is here now. You don’t want to dwell in the past do you?
