Friday! (1)
Shirley Hung & Others
4 January 2014
Shirley Hung: We
have very heavy snow today. It is good to have the day off, having a cup of
coffee, enjoying the snow dancing outside the window. Occasionally I could
hear/see the howling wind blowing up the snow, reminding us who is in charge!
Keep warm and enjoy the beauty of
nature.
This year the fig tree bore a lot
of figs but dried up before fully ripened.
Peter Cheung: It took me
awhile to clean the 8 inches of snow off my car and driveway. Traffic was
light. The scene is beautiful. The air is refreshing. Not too bad.
Tonight will be cruel---below 10oF and windy!
My figs also
dried up sooner last year. But it is still sweet and edible! Could be just the
weather. Your tree looks pretty healthy. Come to SJ this August. We can have
fig, heirloom tomato and mozzarella for lunch.
Charles Chan: This
winter is pretty cold and snowy. This is the 4th snow we had already. Don't
know how many more we will have before spring arrives.
Stay warm and enjoy the scenery!
Metis Hon: Sit tight, keep warm, stay indoor to
enjoy a respite from the severe weather. We don't have snow coming in the UK
but severe storm and possible flooding along the coast. People living along the
promenade down in the Marine Lake hasn't yet finished repairing their front
garden wall after the latest flood and more is coming. We're OK since our house
is on a hill but anticipate some damage to trees in the garden.
Peter
Cheung: A hill overlooking a lake....I am dreaming!
Metis Hon: You should
come and visit, most people find West Kirby delightful. There're lots to do,
hiking, windsurfing, sailing, canoeing and bird, seal watching at the Hilbre
Island, the world heritage site.
And we are 30 min from Liverpool, 60 min only from Manchester.
Tim Fook: I note from news that the snow storm sweep
from south to north east to cover whole NY state and than to Canadian Atlantic
provinces. Warning has been issued from governor of NY state. wish you well.
Having enduring the freezing rain storm ,
we are expecting a snow storm this Sunday for about 13 cm. and day time
temperature is about –15C. The next whole week temperature is below 0.
Stella Tse: It's been a very harsh winter so far, we've had 2 major snow storms, ice
storm and power outage, and abnormally low temp (was less than -30C with wind
chill today); and we are expecting another major snow storm coming Sunday.
Just have to dress for it and drive accordingly.
Lots of
flights were delayed today, and I just checked on Helena's flight to HK, it
looks like it's on time for arrival, so she should be okay.
