It's more than high time to have universal background checks on gun buyers, a ban on high capacity magazines and junior gun ownership. However, it won't be straight forward for Obama to get any legislation through Congress since many congressmen on both sides are beholden to their gun-loving constituents. The sad truth is Americans love guns (I'll also say most males in the world!!), gun ownership is a cultural issue and any change will take ages. Hopefully, America's changing demorgraphics will make the reform happen in the coming generations when there are fewer rural households and more families headed by women and Hispanics - two groups with lower gun ownership rates.

And there are also nutters who suggest the Sandy Hook tragedy is a hoax engineered by the Obama administration to whip up demands for gun control.
