自由的版本(二)

自由的客觀標準只有一個,就是只解釋這種理念本身的原型(Prototype),嚴格來說這跟冰封在雪櫃低溫格內的安格斯牛排區別不太大。「自由」產生意義往往在於是否能夠跟人類行為發生關系的應用層面上。

 

有機體都是憑「本位主義(Sectionalism)」這種本能來繁衍和延續,非洲大草原的獅子並非嗜殺而只是為了自身的存活和繁衍,「萬獸之王」的人類當然更上一層樓,「本位主義」的生理本能縱然不能擺脫,然而進化的腦袋卻可以不斷去提升這種本能,使這種本能符合及銳化本位以「掠奪」更佳的利益。

 

不同個體或「部落」代表著不同的本位立場,因此「自由」在不同的個體或群體裡往往有著不同的詮釋,關鍵在於彼此的價值觀念和利害的異同,其實歸根究底這都是彼此的「本位主義」空間能佔多大與及能如何妥協重叠的問題。正如鍾‧貝茜Joan Baez)的“With God On Our Side(上帝在我這邊)”的歌詞那樣:

Oh my name it is nothin'
My age it means less
The country I come from
Is called the Midwest
I's taught and brought up there
The laws to abide
And the land that I live in
Has God on its side.

They tell it so well

鍾的歌詞雖未能道盡美國的歷史(這只是詩歌),然而亦唱出了美國的「本位主義」那種虛偽和欺騙性。然而只要我們能明白「本位主義」的存在現實和被騙不了的話,這種虛偽何嘗不是自然得可以?而且「藝術造詣」不亦具相當的觀賞性?
